Dear Parents,

Thank you so much for your flexibility with your student’s parent conferences.  Your support and attendance is important for your student’s success.  Our parent involvement is important in our success and we appreciate all that you do for your children and us.

The end of the first nine weeks is October 7th.  Report cards will go home on October 12th.  Please be looking for them and contact your teacher or the office if you have any questions or concerns.  Walk and Roll is Wednesday October 6th.  If you and your child would like to participate please meet at the old fire station on the corner of Garden and Vista Parkway by 7:45. Adults are welcome to participate.

Please remember that school starts at 7:50. We are having a large number of students showing up after that and it is slowing the start of our day.  If we have bad weather at release time, all students will be picked up in the front of the building.

Thank you for the continued support of your child/children’s educational success.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Bring in your change/bills to show your support in THE FIGHT AGAINST CANCER!  We will be collecting money October 1-31.  The money raised will be donated to the Angie Ramirez Memorial Foundation. Mrs. Ramirez was a teacher in our community who passed away in 2019.  Her family started this foundation in response to show appreciation and support not only to the community, but to local educators fighting cancer. Last year, one of our staff members received a donation from the foundation.  In May, the foundation will present a  monetary gift to help an educator financially battle cancer.  Please join us in the fight!

Red Ribbon Week Begins October 25

Did you know that Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation?  During this week, we make an effort to get the message to all students that a drug free lifestyle is the best choice and that, together, the staff and students at Del Norte Elementary commit to a drug free lifestyle.  The national theme for Red Ribbon Week this year is “Drug Free Looks Like Me”. We are asking parents and guardians to partner with us and share this message at home.  Children of parents that discuss drugs and the dangers with their teens are 42% less likely to use drugs than the teens of parents that do not.   Each day starting Monday, October 25th through Friday, October 29th all students will receive an item to remind them of our commitment and the importance to remain drug free.  Red Ribbon Week was born to honor a DEA agent, Kiki Cameron, who was killed in Mexico in 1985 while on duty in an effort to eradicate drugs from our society.  He believed that one person could make a difference.  Thus, we are asking each student, parent, family member and staff member to make a pledge to remain drug free.  Please join us to spread the message and make a difference!

Each day we will dress in a special way to show our commitment to being drug free.
